Meet the Artist Reception - Arts Factory Members Show

A "Meet the Artist" gathering celebrating the Arts Factory Members Show will be held at Arkell Museum the afternoon of Saturday, October 19th from 2 to 4 pm.

This is a perfect time to bring family and friends to view phenomenal artwork spanning a variety of mediums as well as visit with the artists who created it!

The reception is FREE and open to the public.

The Arts Factory Members Show is on view in the Regional Art Galleries of the Arkell Museum from October 18th through December 29, 2024.

Come in and play, meet other parents, and enjoy the fun atmosphere. Older siblings are welcome, adults must supervise children.

We have the scarves and the egg shakers. We have the songs and the stories. We just need you and the kiddos!
Each month we have a new theme. Each day after Storytime we will have a craft or activity for the littles to enjoy.
Storytime promotes early literacy, and helps young learners become kindergarten ready by practicing sitting, listening, reading, sharing, following directions, movement, and song with other children and adults.
All with lots of fun mixed in!

This is a weekly FREE program

Best for pre-k age kids. Families welcome! Older kids are also welcome, but might not get the most out of this program.

Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair

Join us for a celebration of art, crafts, baked goods, books, food, and more, all handcrafted and homemade by regional artisans!

The Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair features an amazing selection including jewelry, photography, toys (for kids and pets!), quilted goods, soaps and lotion bars, sculpture and gourd art, fudge and candy, baked goods, and more!

The Palatine Literary Society concession stand will offer soups, sandwiches, and baked goods; all concession sales benefit an award to a graduating senior.

Meet the talented vendors, get a jump on your holiday shopping, take a chance on a basket raffle, shop our Holiday-themed Used Book Sale!

Admission to the Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair is FREE.

Discounted Museum Admission $5.

Kids Concert Series

Join us every second Friday of the month for a special kids music concert with talented musician Gary Van Slyke.

Gary has been performing for many years and has a wonderful curriculum of songs that will get your kids clapping, stomping, and singing along. Each concert is unique and full of new songs. Gary might even bring instruments for the kids to try out!

This program is FREE and open to all. The music will be centered on 0 - 11 age group, but older folks are welcome to join us.

Erie Canal Symposium

Join us in the Great Hall of the Arkell Museum on November 9th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm for a speaker series all about the Erie Canal. This symposium will discuss new historical research, canal history, engineering, art, and how the Mohawk Valley will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal.

The mission of the Arkell Museum at Canajoharie and the Canajoharie Library is to promote and celebrate the understanding and enjoyment of the arts and humanities in Canajoharie, the Mohawk Valley, and beyond. The Arkell Museum collects, preserves, researches and presents American Art and Mohawk Valley History, and promotes active participation in art and history related activities, to enhance knowledge, appreciation and personal exploration by all.
